CREATING A COOKBOOK

ADVERTISING

Advertising is a great way to increase the revenue of your cookbook. Advertising can be placed on separate pages, divider pages and even on the back of your cover. Advertising is generally sold in quarter, half and full page increments. You set your own advertising rates. Advertising will be printed in the same color as your recipe pages. Sample advertising pages can be seen in our Design Features Sample Book. There is a charge for advertising, please see the Optional Features Price Page.

Submitting Advertising Artwork

Cookbook Originals provides Advertising Forms as part of our Starter Kit or they can be printed from our Download Documents page. Use only one Advertising Form per advertisement indicating the size of the advertising (quarter, half, or full page). The advertising copy should be attached to the Advertising Form, but please do not tape or staple over any text or artwork. Artwork may also be submitted on disk (please see the Advertising form for our supported software applications). Specific page dimensions are detailed on the Advertising Form. Most merchants already have camera-ready copies available.

Your Advertising Sales Plan

  • Designate a committee to coordinate advertising sales.
  • Focus on local companies and individuals. Real Estate agents, home repair professionals and hair stylists are always looking for great targets for advertising opportunities.
  • Set advertising rates to entice the advertiser to increase their advertising purchase. For example, a quarter page rate of $35, a half rate of $50 or a full page rate of $95.

What to Tell Potential Advertisers

Communicate that your cookbook will be a keepsake and will be in kitchens for years to come. Be prepared to answer the following questions:

  • What are the objectives of the cookbook?
  • What is the money from the cookbook being used for?
  • How many cookbooks will be distributed?
  • What are the demographics of the individuals buying the cookbook (men, women, ethnic groups, etc.)?
