CREATING A COOKBOOK

Fillers

Fillers (text or artwork that is not associated with recipes) are a great way to enhance a cookbook. Fillers are placed randomly in empty spaces on a recipe page throughout the cookbook. Standard fillers can be selected from our Optioanal Pages and Fills Booklet (available in our Starter Kit).

Custom fillers, either artwork or text, can also be submitted. Custom artwork can be submitted either in digital format or hard copy and will be re-sized as needed. Artwork in black ink on white paper is preferred, but not required. Custom text fillers (quotes, scripture, etc.) should be limited to three lines. Fillers should be submitted in separate custom artwork envelopes. This option is only available with non-continued recipe format.

Notes

Recipe notes provide a way to add information to a recipe in your cookbook. Notes are considered information that is not pertinent to the recipe. This includes anything other than the recipe title, ingredients, directions and donor name. Notes are typed after the directions. Notes may not be more than three lines. Notes should be included on the recipe form. Examples of recipe notes:

• Tastes like it is very complicated, but it is really easy to make!
• This is a nice dish to take to a potluck. It looks very pretty served in a glass bowl.
• Best if made the day before so it has a chance to marinate well and chill.
• These cookies were made every Christmas by my mom. Now I make them with my girls.

Subheads

Recipe within a category may be further separated into small groups using Subheads. For example the dessert category can be sorted into cakes, cookies, pies and candy. Each new subhead will begin on a new page. The index will also include these Subheads with the appropriate recipe listings. There is no limit to the number of subheads within the cookbook. Recipes must be grouped into subheads prior to submission.
